Bakio Folklore Festival

Bakio Folklore Festival

Every summer we open our village to traditional dance and music groups from all over the world. Performances, a parade through the streets and life with the families of Bakio, for five days by the Bay of Biscay. Our festival is part of a joint circuit with a partner festival in Galicia, giving visiting groups the chance to extend their tour across both regions.

50 years of Basque dance

Itxas-Alde, Basque dance group

50 years of Basque dance

Founded in Bakio in 1972, Itxas-Alde gave its first official performance on 15 August 1974. Today around 150 children, young people and adults, dancers and musicians, remain faithful to the goal we set from the beginning: to learn and spread Basque culture. Since our first trip abroad, to Portugal in 1991, we have travelled almost every year, from Argentina and Mexico to Norway, Nepal and China.
